One of the most interesting paradigm shifts in this generation is the extension of human interactions beyond mere physical engagement. The virtualization of human interaction - popularly called "Social Media" - has provided the most intelligent creature with the ability to engage via electronic media. We can interact, share information and even express joy, happiness, sadness and more emotions via various electronic platforms.
Social media is like a two edged-sword. On one hand it has created an avenue to reap immense benefits. On the other hand, users are exposed to increased vulnerability. The outcomes of its usage depend largely on the user and what it is used for.
These platforms can be used for beneficial things like the propagation of Islamic monotheism and general enlightenment, while they also provide equal chance for evil doers to spread immorality!
Some people exhibit different personalities: a certain type online and another offline. They safely assume that they are two distinct worlds which can be handled differently. However, realities have shown otherwise. I have interacted with people that exhibit maturity and love during physical engagement and consistently exhibit stupidity and hatred online. What an irony?!
It's a common practice for employers to profile staff personalities based on their activities on social media. It is a common practice to "Google", "Facebook", "LinkedIn", "Truecaller" or "Twitter" someone's email or phone number to know who he is. How can you prove your "maturity" and "smartness" when all your online posts show otherwise? That is a sad reality!
