In most corporate environment in Nigeria, everybody is familiar with “TGIF” and excited when chanted. This is a form of expression to signify that the weekend has commenced and employees are not required to wake early for work, at least, for the next 2 days – Saturday & Sunday. Judging from the statement, Thank God it is Friday; it indicates some form of belief in God and show of gratitude that our lives have been spared till Friday! Yes, it has the component of faith but people seem to be heedless when uttering the statement. Unfortunately, this gratitude has not been reciprocated by the beneficiaries with righteousness as one would expect since God love righteousness. They express the gratitude with their lips and repay with unscrupulous and shameful actions.  They go clubbing and drinking alcohol as a form of TGIF, what an irony! Oh you critics! Watch your intention and ensure your criticism is based on sincerity and more importantly truth. You'll be rewarded if you're sincere and truthful with your criticism but it will also be recorded as evil act against you, if you're not. Remember that actions are judged by intention and slanderers have been cursed by Allah. It is encouraged to speak against evil within the limit of one's capability and also discouraged to be a Ruwaybidhah. Speaking on all matters ignorantly on behalf of people without adequate knowledge is very dangerous. Why do you speak about all matters as if you are capable to do so? Known scholars are more careful than you and only refute people when they have explored other means without success. Oh you Sympathizers like me, fear Allah and remember that no good or evil can reach you except it has been decreed by Allah! Remember that your affairs and final judgement is with Allah and not any man. Remember this fundamental principle whenever you come across any comment to ridicule your effort and commitment. Mankind has been highly favoured above other creatures - but mankind is not perfect. Our human imperfections do not save us from the consequences of our actions. All actions are either rewarded or punished (materially, spiritually or both) according to the intentions of the doer. Some repercussions can be temporary (limited to this world alone), eternal (extended or deferred to the hereafter) or shared between both. Belief in life after death is a major cornerstone of the Islamic creed. Your sense of judgement and fairness reflect your level of piety! The unity amongst the frontiers of Islam is currently a mirage and every Muslim is a victim of the weakness of our disunity. Judging from our history and the blessed writings of our scholars, Muslims cannot be truly united except on the pristine Islamic principles built on sound belief and doctrinal system - Aqeedah!
