Islam is a complete system which encompasses ALL human endeavours and provide comprehensive principles to guide the entire humanity to success both in this life and the hereafter! This divine guidance ranges from the most important aspect of man, Monotheism (Worship of the one and only worthy deity, Allah) and other human interactions and transactions...
 
For example, Islam mandates Muslims to ALWAYS verify things before acceptance. This concept is very fundamental and forms the basis of the transmission of Islamic scriptures and knowledge from the best of mankind, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) through his companions to the entire Muslim community and human at large.
 
Allah said in the glorious Qur'an:
 
O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done.
- Surat Hujuraat (49) v 6
 
Considering the recent rumour on the use of salt as a form of prevention or cure for the Ebola virus, according to The Nation newspaper, 2 death were recorded while 20 were in critical situation in the hospital for following the UNVERIFIED and UNCONFIRMED information - http://thenationonlineng.net/new/salted-water-therapy-kills-two/. Also, The Punch confirmed that 20 people were hospitalized - http://www.punchng.com/news/ebola-20-hospitalised-for-excessive-salt-consumption/.
 
Just imagine, if the people involved followed the commandment of Allah as stated above (i.e. Verify before acceptance) by confirming the report from a medical expert?! At least the dead people may still be alive or the people in the hospital may still be in their houses! There is higher probability that they will not fall into this!

Though the people were expected to verify but YES, they didn't, does that exonerate the initiators and the broadcasters of this false information, particularly that the primary initiator confessed - http://www.nairaland.com/1848113/started-saltwater-ebola-cure-rumor ?! Obviously, No! They will have a share from the cause of the death and they may be questioned for this on the day of judgement, except they sincerely repent and desist from such act in the future! 
 
What will be the punishment for the people that shared this information to them?! Don't be in this state to know that this false rumour caused irreparable damage, which a mere apology can't fix but a sincere repentance to the Merciful Creator, Allah!
 
With this, the implication of not verifying things before broadcasting and acceptance can be grave and may not be easily reversed as we can see in this case of Salt - Ebola rumour!
 
It's strange to the Islamic principles and ethics to share or accept without verification, be warned!

Your sense of judgement and fairness reflect your level of piety! The unity amongst the frontiers of Islam is currently a mirage and every Muslim is a victim of the weakness of our disunity.
